Wipster vs chimping.io: the one comparison where price is not the answer
Most comparisons on this site come down to cost. This one does not. Wipster Light is $9.95 a month billed annually and chimping.io Solo is $9, which is the same money. So the question is what each one covers, and they cover different amounts of the job.
The short answer
Wipster is a good, focused review tool and the review experience is as good as ours. If review is all you need, it is a fair choice and I would not try to talk you out of it. The difference is scope: Wipster Light gives you 50 GB and stops at review, while the same money here also covers master delivery, transfers to color and sound, 500 GB of storage, and a project folder that syncs across machines. You are not choosing a cheaper review tool, you are choosing whether the rest of the workflow lives somewhere else.

Which one you want
Pick Wipster if
- Review is the only part of the workflow you need solved, and delivery already has a home you are happy with.
- You work mostly in Premiere or After Effects and want the integrations Wipster has built for them.
- Your team is small and stable, so per-user pricing stays predictable.
- You want the lightest possible tool and would rather not have features you do not use.
Pick chimping.io if
- You are also paying something else to deliver masters, and would rather that was one bill.
- You cut in DaVinci Resolve and want client notes landing on the timeline instead of being retyped.
- Your team grows and shrinks per job, so per-user pricing is a tax on busy months.
- You hand files to a colorist or mixer and need them to come back with folder structure intact.
- You need storage. 50 GB does not hold much 4K.
What it actually costs
Same monthly figure, different amount of job
Because the headline prices match, the only honest way to compare is to add up what else you are paying for the parts Wipster does not cover.
Solo editor, review only
Wipster: $9.95/mo on Light. Covers it. 50 GB.
chimping.io: $9/mo on Solo. Also covers it, with 500 GB. No meaningful difference for this use.
Solo editor who also delivers masters to clients
Wipster: $9.95 for Wipster plus a transfer or delivery service. WeTransfer Pro and similar sit around $12 to $23, so roughly $22 to $33 a month.
chimping.io: $9/mo. Delivery links are included, password-protected and do not expire.
Three people cutting a documentary together
Wipster: Team at $19.95 per user per month annually, so about $60/mo, plus whatever handles delivery and the footage handoffs.
chimping.io: $19/mo on Studio, flat, regardless of how many people are on the job. Project Sync keeps the folder current for all of them.
The third scenario is where the gap opens, and it is a pricing-model difference rather than a value judgment. Per-seat is predictable for a fixed team and expensive for a freelance one.
Questions people ask
Frequently asked
Is Wipster's review better than yours?
They are close enough that I would not claim an advantage. Both do timecoded comments, unlimited reviewers and no account for the client. Wipster has been at this longer and the interface shows it. What we add around review is delivery, transfers, receive links and sync, not a better comment box.
I use Premiere. Does the Resolve integration matter to me?
No, and that is worth being straight about. The Resolve app is Resolve-only. Everything else is NLE-agnostic: review links, deliveries, receive links, Project Sync. If you live in Premiere, Wipster's integrations there are more developed than anything we have.
Can I keep Wipster and use chimping.io for delivery?
Yes, and some people do. Deliveries, transfers and receive links work on their own. It costs more than consolidating, but if your clients are already used to Wipster's review page there is no reason to disrupt that.
Why is your storage ten times larger at the same price?
Different bets. Wipster is priced as a review tool, where files are proxies that come and go. We assume you are storing finished masters for the life of a project, so storage is the thing you run out of first. Our review encoding has its own meter and expires separately, which is how the 500 GB stays for masters.
What happens when my team changes size?
Nothing on your bill. Plans are flat and there are no per-seat charges, so a job with six collaborators costs the same as a job with one. On per-user pricing, a busy month costs more than a quiet one.

Same price. Try it against the whole job, not just the review.
If review really is all you need, Wipster is fine and you should keep it. If you are paying for something else to move the files, that is the part worth testing.
